You don´t need Adobe to either view or make pdfs.
E.g., you can make them with Open Office and view them with pdfviewer (who could have guessed!)

What program do you make your tutorials in? I'd use Photoshop, but I fit it gets a bit cumbersome when the dimensions of the image are too different from that of my screen.

I use Photoshop CS5 Extended on a 1280x800 res screen. I just use the zoom tool to get in to the right zoom level and scroll around as needed. :P

i think this should have an adult warning attached to it, and probably not recieve a DD due to the unnecessary expletives!! you have ruined something that could be helpful by making it inaccesible to all.

i just think its pointless to include words like that in a tutorial, there are younger generations of artists who use this site too and may stumble on your tutorials full of those types of words. there is no need to reply to me in such a childish manner, i am simply stating the fact that your informative tutorials lose a huge amount of integrity due to the use of profanity within them, im sure you can agree it is pretty pointless and doesnt bare any value to the information you are sharing with the commmunity on here.

I believe that there are 12 year olds in the younger generations that use "unnecessary expletives" more than you, my good man.

So really, that comment was unnecessary. The younger generation is already screwed. There's not much that can be done about it. :hmm:

And yet people still love them and use them, so I think there is nothing lost. If you don't like it, take it up with the GM that gave me the DD three months ago. I have no control over such things. And profanity is nothing more then words. You give them meaning. Also, swearing does not mean adult themes. It's all a matter of perspective and opinion. And 515 people agree that this is an awesome tutorial. Does it make it right? Of course not. Do I honestly care in the least bit? No. You can report me if you wish, I honestly don't care. :P

That's fucking right. Fuck only has a meaning if you give it one. Hell it's only offensive if the person on the other end takes it as an offense, which this person clearly did. OH NOES. You've offended someone over the internet, you're now damned for life.

I feel compelled to point out that serif typefaces (Times New Roman, Garamond, etc.) are actually more readable than sans-serif faces (Calibri, etc.) which is why long pieces of type, such as books, are written in them.

Shorter chunks of type can utilize sans-serif, or display, type. So if a tutorial is using a LOT of text, it may be helpful to readers to use a serif-based typeface. :D

P.S. <3 this tutorial. :D

Haha, I learned a thing or two. The flow pictures were the most useful bit. However, in the section about file-saving, I never use any of those that you suggest. I use PNG, because it preserves the quality as well as being easy to read and easy to load. Nice tutorial. - 3D

I prefer PNGs for my actual artwork, but I use JPGs for tutorials since they have lower file sizes, which won't lag up most people systems. :) But to each his own. :B

I could make an xzibit "yo dawg" joke here. I could also be a dick and try to badmouth this tutorial because it got a DD and I didn't. I could ALSO attempt to flex my pretentious douche muscles and act fairly high and mighty, subsequently calling you names and telling you about this imaginary Adobe backed company that I developed for... or call you a hipster because I'm not all that inspired and just need to feel better after a long day of cranking out generics like a grocery store pharmacy.

Instead, I'm just gonna be straight up. This is a pretty good tutorial, and I'm glad you've made it. It gives a solid point as to what may be a good option depending on the person and what they're doing.

It's rough around the edges, but humor takes work anyway, and it's a rather hit and miss kind of situation. Try to be a bit more aware of what it is you're saying to your audience when being funny and you'll be pretty ace.

Aside from that, excellent work, dude. I'm glad to know you and I'm glad you got a DD on it.
